(Associate) Investment Manager (d/f/m)

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Associate Investment Manager / Investment Manager to join our team in Istanbul

Your new area of responsibility

  • Origination & Pre-Structuring: Identify, originate, and pre-structure investment opportunities in Corporate Finance, Project Finance and the Financial sector across Türkiye and assigned regional markets. Pre‑structure senior and mezzanine debt solutions aligned with client needs, DEG’s mandate, and risk criteria.
  • Market Research: Conduct detailed market research and sectoral analysis to identify new clients, investment opportunities, and early-stage leads for business development.
  • Representation & Networking: Represent DEG to clients, public-sector stakeholders, and international institutions. Build and expand a strong professional network.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Regional Director in Istanbul, sector teams at DEG headquarters in Cologne, and colleagues in other international offices.

Technical Skills

  • Financial Modelling & Analysis: Strong command of Excel‑based modelling. 
  • Corporate, Project & overall Debt Finance: Solid understanding of complex finance structures, risk allocation, financing instruments, and general knowledge of bond markets (Eurobonds, T2 instruments).
  • ESG & Impact Assessment: Familiar with ESG risk frameworks, sustainability standards.
  • Sector, Market & Country Risk Awareness: Broad knowledge of DEG’s business clusters (Financial institutions, agribusiness, industries, services, renewable energy and infrastructure) and strong awareness of macroeconomic, regulatory, political, sector specific risks.
  • Credit & Risk Analysis: Ability to assess various risks and propose mitigating measures.
  • Transaction Structuring & Documentation: Experience in preparing  term sheets and negotiating facility agreements, security packages, and intercreditor agreements with legal counsel.

The scope of activities and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with applicable local legislation and regulatory requirements. Certain activities may be limited or carried out in close coordination with DEG headquarters and other authorized entities.

Your Profile

  • Experience: 3+ years for Associate, 5-7 years for IM in finance. Banking and/or DFI experience is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration; a Master is a plus.
  • Languages: Excellent command of English & Turkish is mandatory; German is an asset.
  • Networking: An existing network in the Turkish business and financial community is expected.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication and negotiation skills, team player and high cultural sensitivity, willingness to work independently and take responsibility.
  • Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required, including regular business travel to Germany (DEG headquarters in Cologne) and to assigned regional markets.
